Jordan Sheppard Ltd help raise over 2000
Jordan Sheppard Ltd help raise over £2000 in one night/one concert with award winning 22 year old pianist, David Schofield in memory of his father.
In July 2011 Jordan Sheppard Ltd presented a check to Concert Pianist David Schofield, an alumni of Chethams School of Music who organised and performed a piano concert in Wilmslow with a unique twist.
Probably the most local concert for the last 2 years, David, from Heald Green, Cheadle, who is gaining interest from record companies as the "Jamie Cullum of Piano", designed a 'Family Concert' featuring both classical music alongside some very unique virtuosic transcriptions including Harry Potter, Chopsticks and Nessun Dorma - designed more for children. He also invited his 14 year old brother to open the concert with him as a tribute to his father.
Also performed were works by Grieg, Paderewski, some Jazz arrangements and concluding the concert, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.
David organised the concert from scratch, getting sponsorship from the Evans Arts Trust and getting a local company from Styal, Jordan Sheppard Ltd, to also donate over £1200 bringing the total money to charity to over £2200!
The money was donated to the following causes:
1) To donate just over £1200 for two new doors at the back of Styal Methodist Church (an idea of David's father shortly before passing away)
2) To raise £1000 for "New Heart, New Start" as David's father had a heart transplant 20 years ago.
David lost his father to a heart transplant in 2009 and he was like a manager to David travelling all over to various competition and concerts, so this concert and this 'new idea' of the virtuosic transcriptions was in memory of him.
The concert was a huge success. The director of the charity "New Heart New Start" was able to speak at the concert along with members of Styal Methodist Church and senior consultant of Jordan Sheppard, Theo Smith.
Theo Smith in his speech said "the doors to the church are the doors to the communities heart and we are privileged to be able to help David, his family and the community realise his father's dream"
Theo later commented on how as a business it is important to have social responsibility and the local community is where this should start.
