SRS have launched a new company to provide specialist support to recruitment firms.

This is the culmination of the creation of a team of experts which now comprises a leading recruitment industry figure who created a highly regarded recruitment business, a corporate financier from a top SME advisory firm, a MCIPD HR Consultant, two lawyers with expertise in commercial and employment law respectively and an accountant with recruitment industry expertise.

Saunders Recruitment Services Managing Director Dennis Saunders commented: "Having worked in the recruitment industry since the late 80's it is clear to me that the environment has become significantly more complex from a legal, administrative and financial perspective - and businesses are struggling to keep ahead of the game in these areas whilst still trying to fulfil the primary objective - to generate sales. He goes on to say: "whilst the trade bodies are excellent and provide general advice with regard to legislation etc, we will be proactive with each client to provide a customised hands-on service for each firm's particular circumstances - with the aim to be compliant but to also exploit opportunities to increase profits".

The purpose of the business is to provide the complete and comprehensive range of support and services to recruitment consultancies, whether at start up or as an established recruitment consultancy. The focus is primarily to owner managed businesses of generally less than 20 staff, as it is typically these that have senior staff who are still instrumental in producing sales, but where the company needs help to develop and grow, and to achieve increased profits whilst avoiding the many pitfalls along the way. This allows leaders to focus on key strengths such as dealing with clients or concentrating more time on fee generation, but at the same time being provided with counsel and hands-on support to develop the skills and strategies to take the business to the next stage. SRS will normally operate in either of two modes: providing review and planning meetings on a regular basis (usually 1-2 days per month) with a focus on avoiding issues and creating opportunities to increase margins, and also on a project basis to achieve a particular agreed deliverable within an agreed deadline. The key elements are to ensure compliance with the ever changing landscape in the recruitment arena, but to do so while considering the needs and primary objectives of the business, and to identify and act on opportunities to increase profitability.

Saunders adds "We have also instigated an SOS facility: it can feel very lonely at the top when things go wrong, but it doesn't need to be. Whatever the challenge, it is likely that one or more of our people has already encountered it, and we have the empathy and the expertise to help resolve the situation. It is usually not as bad as it seems when help arrives!".

Although a very new venture, the service has been well received to date, particularly by those firms encountering alternative boom and bust and back to boom again in consecutive months, and also by a couple of top consultants who would like to branch out on their own but who currently lack the expertise and confidence to do so.
