FDM Group speaks out against the revelation that one in four graduates & lsquo;fail to find work’

Data published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) has revealed that more than a quarter of graduates were not in full time work three and half years after leaving university.
The results of the snapshot survey showed that 27.7% of UK graduates who left university in 2006/07 were not in full time paid work 42 months later.

The UK’s largest IT graduate employer, FDM Group, has been consistently recruiting graduates for over 20 years and is outraged at these figures.
FDM CEO Rod Flavell said, “At FDM we believe strongly in ensuring that graduates do not spend their money, time and energy achieving a degree only to find themselves out of work after graduation. We would like to reach out to graduates who have not yet found stable employment and assure them that if they are interested in pursuing IT careers, we can provide a solution.”
The company offers graduates a route into the IT industry by supplying them with an award winning graduate programe, which combines the technical skills and commercial experience needed to branch into the IT industry.
FDM trains its IT Consultants within a specialist area of IT for 12-16 weeks before placing them within one or more of FDM’s 200 blue-chip clients for a minimum of two years.
Not only will successful candidates receive a competitive salary throughout this second phase of employment, but FDM Consultants will also leave the programme with the skills and experience needed to land high flying roles within the IT industry.
FDM IT Consultant Chris Brown said, “I know that without my employment at FDM, I would not posses the skills or experience I now have, nor would I have even been considered for my current job within a tier one investment bank in Zurich.”

FDM has also opened doors for graduates from a variety of backgrounds and regularly accepts graduates with Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Science and even Business, Economics and Law degrees.

The international IT services provider aims to reduce negative graduate employment figures by recruiting 1,000 graduates this year alone.
