Pertemps set to educate clients on AWR

Change in employment regulations will force companies to review recruitment strategies

Recruitment consultancy Pertemps is aiming to help its clients understand the new changes to the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) and also inviting them to celebrate its 50th anniversary, when it holds a birthday event in the new banqueting suite at Edgbaston Cricket Ground on Wednesday 7th September.

The recruitment company, which is one of the largest independent agencies in Britain, will be hosting the event for over 100 clients. The evening will see guest speaker Jane Hobson of Weightman’s solicitors explain the new AWR regulations that come into force for all businesses from the 1st October.

As well as hearing Jane speak there will be an address and book signing from Lord Digby Jones, followed by drinks and canap&eacutes to celebrate the company’s 50 years in the industry.

Tim Watts, chairman of Pertemps Recruitment Partnership, said: “We are delighted to be holding this event and to have both Jane and Lord Jones addressing the audience.”

The aim of the event is to provide clients with vital information regarding the changes to AWR. These changes mean that from October 1st agency workers will, after 12 weeks in the same assignment, have the right to be treated in the same way as if they had been recruited directly by the company.

Carmen Watson, managing director of Pertemps Recruitment Partnership, said: “Millions of employers use temporary staff and need to make urgent provisions for the ramifications of the new legislation. The changes mean that after 12 weeks, employees will have the same rights as permanent staff in relation to basic employment and working conditions regarding working time, overtime, breaks, rest periods, night work, holiday, and pay. From day one of an assignment they will have to be given access to the same onsite facilities as other employees, such as canteens, cr&egraveches and gyms.”

Carmen commented further: “As well as providing our clients with key information and answering their questions, we also hope the event is seen as a small token of our appreciation for their support over the years.
