Towngate Hand Picked for Hotel Recruitment

Bournemouth-based international recruitment consultancy Towngate Personnel has teamed up with the prestigious Hand Picked Hotels chain as a preferred supplier.

Towngate is now recruiting for both temporary and permanent positions at all levels in the 18-strong collection of sophisticated country house hotels that stretches from Jersey to Edinburgh.

“Hand Picked are looking for experienced, high quality staff for vacancies across the collection,” says James Tucker, operations manager for Towngate Personnel, which specialises in the hospitality industry.

“At Rhinefield House in the New Forest, for instance, we have been assisting in various restaurant and front office positions, but elsewhere there are also openings for chefs.
All hotels are very service-orientated, but particularly at the high end, so getting the right person is vital – a food and beverage manager at a 40-bed four-star country house hotel is likely to be far more hands-on than a food and beverage manager at a 300-bed corporate hotel in charge of a large team of people.

“Obviously it’s important for Hand Picked to fill vacancies swiftly, but it’s more important for them to get the right person. Our recruiting experience and extensive contacts mean we’re able to effectively manage the matching process, perhaps by sending someone to fill a position on an interim basis and take the pressure off before a permanent member of staff is found.”

It’s more good news for Towngate, which is reporting a third year-on-year growth in business, despite the fluctuating fortunes of the economy.

“This has been an incredibly unpredictable year, but August – which is traditionally a quiet month for many businesses – has picked up in the last week and we can already see September is going to be a great month.”
