Agencies can lead the way on AWR says REC

AWR - Agencies can lead the way says Gill Knight, REC Regional Director

The Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) come into force across the UK tomorrow (Saturday October 1).

Highlighting how agencies and employers in the east of England are approaching the regulations, Gill Knight, Chief Executive of 1st Choice Recruitment and REC regional director for the East region says:

“From a client perspective we have seen a very mixed picture.  Some employers in the region are totally organised and prepared for the changes whilst others - even some big names - are not fully up to speed.

"For agencies in the region with a thorough understanding of the new requirements, the AWR has been a major 'differentiator' and an opportunity to show leadership and professionalism. Because of the relative lack of awareness amongst some employers, agencies have had to be persistent to get the necessary information from clients - for example with regards to day one rights such as access to collective facilities.

"Looking ahead, recruitment professionals in the East of England will help employers get to grips with the new requirements and ensure that agency work continues to provide flexibility for businesses and opportunities for workers in the region.”
