Leading new managed service contract helps fuel Omega’s industrial sector volume

Innovative recruitment solution secures landmark temporary workers contract

Omega Resource Group has scooped a prestigious multi-million pound managed service contract for a global online retailer, which continues to hold the top position as the UK's biggest online retailer in the annual IMRG Experian Hitwise Hot Shops List, to provide a share of up to 4,000 temporary workers at its Swansea fulfilment centre.

Omega had pitched for the business in South Wales, against incumbent agencies, and according to Ray Pugh, Omega Resource Group director: “We were able to demonstrate not just an understanding of the issues but an innovative method of solving problems in a cost effective way. This location in Swansea especially presented a number of issues to create a complex project”.

The award-winning recruitment business had researched the local recruitment market and produced a detailed analysis and plan which incorporated funding of public transport to allow employees to travel to work free.

Omega’s team devised a range of strategies, which needed to take into account the fact that the Swansea centre, unlike others operated by the client, was more complex with stock in and stock out both accommodated in the 800,000sq feet storage space.

Omega’s contract manager Neil Jackson added: “Whilst the fact that a large employer is sited in an unemployment black spot must be good news for many prospective employees, our task is to ensure that the appropriate and relevant people are not only hired, but are able to travel to work in an area not especially well served by public transport.” The employment catchment area extends up to a 15 mile circumference outside of Swansea with staff attracted from many localities in South Wales.

Omega Resource Group provides a bespoke service for engineering, technical, industrial and commercial industries. The company – through offices and locations across the UK - provides resource including permanent and temporary positions in executive, management and unskilled positions.
