Now Recruitment is celebrating the first anniversary of its graduate recruitment programme with a new intake of graduates for its Birmingham office.

Four graduates have been selected to join Now Recruitment.

Two of the graduates will join the company’s Education Division, with the remaining two successful candidates working with the Construction Professional and Trades and Labour Divisions.

The company launched its innovative graduate recruitment programme in September 2010 and over the past 12 months has taken on eight graduate trainees across its four offices in Birmingham, Cardiff, Newcastle and Edinburgh.

The company received over 200 applications for its latest scheme which specifically targeted graduates from the Birmingham area.

16 of the applicants were invited to an initial assessment day where they took part in various tasks that tested their communication, writing and numeracy skills as well as being grilled by a panel of interviewers.

Eight were then chosen to take part in a three week intensive training programme which combined classroom based learning with practical experience working alongside consultants in the Birmingham office.

At the end of the three week training period four of the graduates were offered permanent positions.

Tracey Androlia, Development Director, Now Recruitment says: “Yet again we’ve been delighted with the calibre candidates who applied for the post.

The selection process is lengthy and tough but we invest a substantial amount of time and money into our graduate training and so we, and they, need to be sure that recruitment is the right for them before they commit to joining the team.”

Now Recruitment’s graduates follow a structured and comprehensive training programme which includes regular training sessions on all the key elements of working in recruitment, from client management to interview techniques and generating new business.

The graduates are also put immediately to work within one of the company’s divisions: Construction, Accountancy, Education, Trades and Labour, Mechanical and Electrical and Rail in order to build practical skills and experience.

Mark Bull, Head of Operations, Now Recruitment says: “We couldn’t be more delighted with the success of the scheme over its first 12 months.  We recognised the value in investing in the training of the new generation of recruitment professionals and it’s paying off. Those graduates who joined over the past 12 months are now really proving their worth within the business.  We’re committed to continuing with the programme and are looking forward to seeing our latest recruit’s progress and develop in the coming months.”

The next graduate programme will be launched early in 2012.
