Glasgow-based Search Consultancy today (3 October 2011) announced the appointment of account director Shona McKenzie, who will lead a specialist recruitment team tasked with finding over 1,000 jobs for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Search, the UK-wide, multi-sector recruitment consultancy, was unveiled as a Tier Two sponsor for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in September and is responsible for attracting and recruiting 1,044 people between now and the Games’ opening ceremony on 23 July 2014.

Shona has over 30 years’ experience working across numerous high-profile recruitment campaigns for a range of clients, including Intelligent Finance, Sky, O2, NHS 24, First Scotrail and Tesco Bank.

Shona and her team will seek to fill a vast number of roles, ranging from technical sporting roles to corporate positions to event management.

Simone Lockhart, managing director of Search Consultancy in Scotland, said:

“Given our commitment to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games this is a pivotal hire for the business. Every one of the 1,044 roles to be filled between now and July 2014 will play its own important part in making the Commonwealth Games an event to remember.

“Shona’s experience of high volume, multi-disciplined recruitment projects is second-to-none and her impeccable track record of delivering campaigns on time and on budget makes her the perfect fit for this prestigious role.”

Commenting on her appointment Shona McKenzie, added:

“To play such an integral part in Glasgow 2014 is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I’m delighted to have the chance to lead the Search Commonwealth Games team. Many of the applicants for these jobs will be from Glasgow and, being a Glaswegian myself, I’m passionate about ensuring the whole process is a seamless one.

“It’s critical that applicants are enabled to recognise and display their core transferable skills, which will allow our team to identify the best candidate for the role. By doing this, we can help make the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games a truly unique spectacle, which will leave a lasting legacy for the city and its people.”

Led by Shona McKenzie, the Search Commonwealth Games team currently comprises Mairi Fernandez Ares and Tracy Thomson as recruitment managers, and Clover Saunders as account administrator, with additional specialist roles to follow.
