SkyBlue Solutions is first recruitment agency to become ClearAssured

Recruitment agency SkyBlue has demonstrated its commitment to inclusive recruitment by becoming ClearAssured.

The agency is the first recruitment business to achieve the & lsquo;Proud to be’ ClearAssured status which is a mark awarded in recognition of an organisation’s commitment to embedding best practice in the recruitment process when it comes to disability.

The ClearAssured process has been developed and tested by some of the UK’s biggest employers and leaders in disability awareness (such as BT, HMRC, and E.ON Energy). SkyBlue is leading the way for the recruitment industry as it joins these exemplars.

Richard Toy, operations director at SkyBlue, said:

“SkyBlue has over a decade of experience in putting the right people in the right place at the right time, applying the latest planning, recruitment and management systems to tackle skills shortages for a wide range of clients.

“Almost one in five people of working age in the UK has a disability which means we must equip ourselves with the right knowledge and sources of support to ensure we do not miss out on this huge pool of talent.  Our clients demand we offer them the best people for the job and clearly we wouldn’t be sure we were doing that if we were missing out on almost 20 per cent of the available talent.

“ClearAssured and the ClearKit resource have proved a real source of support, direction and inspiration for us. We worked hard to discover where hidden barriers to disabled talent existed and equally had to ensure we have removed them.”

Kate Headley, development director at The Clear Company which has devised the ClearAssured process, said:

“Congratulations to SkyBlue on becoming ClearAssured and setting a benchmark for other recruitment agencies to follow.  In adopting ClearKit and ClearAssured, SkyBlue is leading the way in transforming the approach of UK industry to inclusive recruitment and sending a message that this waste of talent cannot continue.”

On learning SkyBlue is leading the way for recruiters, Maria Miller, Minister for Disabled People, said:

“In times like these, when we need to work together across public, private and third party sectors to ensure that work opportunities are accessible to all, I would like to say well done to SkyBlue for taking a very positive approach to include disabled people. UK employers are actively seeking disability confident suppliers and SkyBlue Solutions is a business leading by example in taking practical steps to demonstrate their commitment to find employment for disabled talent.”

The Clearkit resource, which supports ClearAssured, is also being championed by the DWP and has the support of government.
