Online fixed-fee recruitment experts celebrate a decade in business

This year two digital innovations celebrate a decade of growth. As 2011 marks the anniversary of the iPod, the innovative portable music player of the decade, the first online fixed fee recruitment agency, webrecruit, is also celebrating a decade of recruitment revolution.

As the digital world started to boom in 2001, CEO and founder of webrecruit, Phil Roebuck introduced the fixed fee recruitment service to the market, making recruitment affordable for businesses of all sizes.

Phil said, “I had previous exposure to the recruitment industry before I set up webrecruit. I recognised pretty quickly that online was the way forward, especially with the emergence of job boards and online communities. However, I was frustrated by the high fees traditional agencies charged when in fact online capabilities could reduce costs and so webrecruit was born.”

Since its creation in 2001, Phil’s business model has been adopted by many people as they capitalise on online opportunities. For webrecruit though, this business model not only allowed them to get ahead of the competition, but also helped Phil to bring one of the biggest names in recruitment – James Caan – on board as Chairperson.

As an online recruitment service webrecruit follow the trends in online technology and social media in order to use these platforms to bring employers and candidates together with minimal fuss. In the two years since it was set up, the company’s LinkedIn group has grown to over 60,000 people. According to Phil, “Gone are the days when the only options you had were to upload your CV to a job board or sit down with a recruitment consultant. The development of digital and social media capabilities has moved this activity online and has in fact made recruitment a more social process.”
