Pertemps launch apprenticeships

Recruitment company Pertemps has launched a pilot apprenticeship scheme in a bid to help tackle unemployment and assist people in obtaining the skills they need to gain employment.

The company who are one of the largest independent recruitment companies in Britain are working in conjunction with property and facilities management company Mitie who are sponsoring the scheme and training provider Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG).

The scheme works to help people of all ages and backgrounds back into the world of work by providing them with placements as branch administrators within Pertemps branches.

All apprentices on the scheme receive a skills assessment in week one and then spend four days in the branch and one day in training.

Carmen Watson managing director said: “We are really excited about the apprenticeships and so far they are going really well.  If the scheme is a success we will be rolling it out across all 200 of our branches nationwide. Through the programme we are seeing the apprentices gain confidence in their abilities whilst improving their core skills, communications, I.T and business administration skills, all of which will help them in the world of work.

“By the very nature of the business Pertemps are ideally placed to help these apprentices find long term sustainable work upon completion.”
