Jobsite supports young talent in the South

Jobsite, one of the UK’s leading recruitment sites has teamed up with Portsmouth Football Club to offer a life changing CV-optimising opportunity to 18-22 year olds, culminating in a chance to visit Africa where they will be providing skills and support to develop youngsters and face up to the many challenges of growing up in communities plagued with poverty and hardship.

The initiative, named & lsquo;Beyond Blue’ is a group community project designed to help improve employment opportunities and prepare futures of young people in the competitive job market that awaits them after education. It is another progressive project developed through Jobsite’s main club sponsorship of Portsmouth FC, along with local youth volunteer service Community Fusion and international volunteering and development charity Coaching For Hope.

The Beyond Blue project builds on the highly successful Premier League Into Work Scheme piloted by PFC and Jobsite back in 2009, the continuing scheme has so far resulted in an outstanding 62% of participants getting back into work.

Jobsite will be funding the first 12 weeks of the project, based in Portsmouth preparing participants for the experience. The young people will gain important team building and organisational skills and Jobsite will offer CV writing sessions, practice face to face interview techniques and work placements. The successful applicants will also be trained in First Aid, Child Protection Qualification and FA Level 1 Football Coaching Qualification in order to prepare them for their 12-week volunteering work out in Africa.

Commenting on the new & lsquo;Beyond Blue’ project, Mike Wall MD of Jobsite says, “We are keen to work with PFC on this unique project and offer our expertise and advice to help prepare young people for the world of work. Working with Portsmouth FC has always been more of a partnership than a sponsorship, working on bespoke projects like Beyond Blue and the Premier League’s Back to Work scheme allows Jobsite to be much more than just a name on the shirt and give something back to the community”

Clare Martin, Director of Community Projects at Pompey Sports & Education Foundation & Pompey Study Centre adds, “We are really excited about starting & lsquo;Beyond Blue’ with Jobsite and the young people in Portsmouth. Those that successfully complete the Portsmouth based programme will have the opportunity to travel to Africa with Coaching For Hope for a fully funded volunteer project. PSEF aims to engage with the local community, through the power of football,  & lsquo;Beyond Blue’ will help develop sports skills and improve lives for young people and their communities making a genuine difference to the lives of some of the World’s poorest people”

Beyond Blue officially launches on Sunday 18th December at the eagerly-anticipated home derby game where Pompey take on Southampton FC at Fratton Park for an npower Championship clash which is live on BBC1.
