Matchtech Group recently surveyed candidates on its database who graduated within the past 5 years the following results are a sample of a little over 1,200 candidates who responded to the survey. We were interested in gauging the realities of obtaining a graduate role and the route these graduates took to secure one
66% of candidates we surveyed secured a graduate role after University
36% of those candidates secured their role through a recruitment agency with 64% approached their desired company directly. 13% went through Job Boards and 1.7% though Linked In.
23% of those unable to secure graduate work returned to University to gain further qualifications, while 50% went into a role that wouldn’t require a degree and a further 27% are still looking for suitable work.
Of those who secured graduate work 89% stated that Career Progression would encourage them to look for new roles more money, Job satisfaction, Flexibility, location and a more interesting role were also cited as being important when considering a role change.
