Michael Page International plc has announced the launch of its Moroccan subsidiary, based in Casablanca, making it the first major recruitment consultancy to have a direct presence in Northern and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The launch was motivated by the regular increase of recruitment assignments received from Moroccan companies and international companies based in Morocco.

Managing Director of Michael Page Africa, Mr Paul Mercier said that the Moroccan market had reached a significant level of development and required its own office and permanent team.

“This is a logical step for Michael Page International that reflects our development strategy in emerging countries. With a steady annual growth close to 5 per cent, the Moroccan economy is gathering momentum and companies need to reinforce their executive team as well as their middle management.

“With a stronger local presence, we will be well placed to offer a larger palette of services and recruitment needs to the market,” Mr Mercier said.

Michael Page Africa has been providing recruitment solutions for managers and executives in Africa for more than six years. With the launch of the new office, the Group now has 40 dedicated consultants working out of Johannesburg, Casablanca and Paris.

Aside from Morocco and South Africa, Michael Page International has placed candidates in 35 out of the 54 African countries.

“In 2011, we experienced strong growth of 22 per cent from our operations on the African continent. Our success in this region is the result of Michael Page International’s 35 years of experience, established global leadership, and capability to take advanced positions in emerging markets,” added Mr Mercier.
