Chris Bartlett receives major nomination from the Institute of Directors

GCS Founder and MD under consideration for Director of the Year award

21 years ago, Chris Bartlett formed IT Recruitment firm GCS. The company has weathered the onslaught of three market downturns and is currently projected to achieve its highest ever turnover in 2012. As if the continued growth of the company through tough times was not testament enough to Bartlett’s talents and tenacity, the acknowledgement of his performance by the Institute of Directors (London and South) comes as a further endorsement of his hard work and vision.

An appreciative Bartlett keeps the focus squarely on the business as a whole, commenting "As a long time member of the IOD, I am delighted to be shortlisted – it is pleasing to receive individual recognition. However, I see myself as being part of a team, and it is the support and interaction of that team that make me the director that I am. Perhaps my biggest success is being lucky enough to have built a team of such terrific people."

Bartlett is one of three nominees in the “Best Director – &pound25m to &pound99m” category. The winner will be announced at the 2012 IOD London and South Awards, to be held at the Landmark Hotel in Marylebone on the 29th March, a date on which another of Chris’ endeavours finishes. “I’m going on tour!” says the enthusiastic Bartlett. “I’m visiting a number of Universities around the country to present a free seminar on the realities of working in recruitment. I’m looking forward to doing my bit to promote the immense potential there is for career progression within the recruitment industry.”

Known by friends and colleagues alike as a gentleman who enjoys the occasional traditional ale, Bartlett will no doubt enjoy himself at the award ceremony but it will be right back to training quickly thereafter. The company founder will join two other GCS employees to run the Virgin London Marathon on 22nd April in an effort to raise funds for the charities supported by GCS (Orchid, Rainbow Trust and British Heart Foundation).
