The launch of & lsquo;Executive Positioning Profiles’ gives senior executives a more effective way to convey their relevant expertise to executive search professionals or investors

For senior executives seeking new board level roles or working to attract finance, the effective presentation of wider skills and professional achievements can present a challenge. Executives’ current or most recent positions tend to pigeonhole them and may leave them excluded from searches for roles for which they are actually well qualified.

The newly launched & lsquo;Executive Positioning Profiles’ present a more relevant view of a candidate’s career and professional strengths to search professionals, CEOs and investors looking to fill key roles. This enables interested parties to move beyond & lsquo;known names’ in identifying and assessing potential candidates, quickly establishing whether they match the brief for a particular executive search, or have the experience to deliver on the business plan.

According to Positioning Profiles director, Jez Dorrell, the key is positioning - aligning an individual, their professional achievements and aspirations to specific target industries, opportunities or investor requirements. “A vanilla executive bio or C.V. is not ideal for someone searching for specific skills, experience or culture,” Dorrell explains, “but a profile that has been researched and written with particular requirements in mind will help ensure that the appropriate skills and achievements are highlighted.”

“Some perceptions have to be addressed head-on,” Dorrell adds. “When we profiled the CEO of a not-for-profit organisation - a role not naturally associated with entrepreneurial flair - we were able to demonstrate an impressive record of entrepreneurial achievement and skills which had enabled the CEO to transform the organisation’s business model, putting it on a far stronger commercial footing. Anecdotes and analysis can be far more revealing than lines in a C.V.”

Each Executive Positioning Profile is researched and written to focus on the value an individual has delivered in their career to date, highlighting the related skills, experience and personal attributes he or she could bring to other targeted board level roles, typically with SMEs.

Executive Positioning Profiles provide the basis of an executive’s business networking profile they can also be distributed or uploaded as a digital publication to be viewed by executive search professionals, private equity firms and other parties seeking candidates for executive and NED appointments.
