Company Directors take on London to Paris Cycle Challenge  to Raise Funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Two of the company directors at Hampshire-based recruitment and talent management consultancy Advanced Resource Managers Limited are currently in training to complete a gruelling 300 mile, 4 day cycle ride from the English to the French capital to raise funds for charity.

Client Relationship Director Paul Martin said:

“I’ve been a keen cyclist for years and have taken part in other cycling challenges, but nothing on this scale before. I will admit that idea of taking on the London to Paris cycle ride started as red wine-inspired bravado, but when Mike agreed to take on the challenge with me there was no turning back. We had already adopted Make a Wish as one of the company’s charities for the year and I’ve been genuinely moved by the work they do which has made me want to stick with this challenge and raise as much money for them as possible.”

Managing Director Mike Gawthorne agreed, saying:

“It’s not always been the best weather since we started training at the beginning of the year, but hearing about the charity’s work and the bravery of the children they support has kept me motivated and determined to meet this challenge and cross the finish line in Paris. I’m sure that the thought of this great cause, together with the immense amount of support and sponsorship we’ve received so far will keep me pedalling for 300 miles.”

The challenge to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation starts on 6th June. The charity grants wishes to children and young people living with life threatening illnesses. In 2012 it aims to raise &pound6.8m over the course of the year to increase the number of wishes it grants across the UK from 75 to 85 per month.

Mike and Paul are fundraising to contribute to the charity’s work and support their objectives. The pair look set to smash through their initial &pound4000 fundraising target and both are keen to raise the total as much as possible to realise the charity’s ambitions.
