NOW RECRUITMENT CELEBRATES 20 YEARS

Now Recruitment is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year as it marks its 20th year in business.

The company was launched by founder, and now Group MD, Gary Redman in 1992. Originally named Skillman Contractors, it began by specialising in the supply of trades labour to the construction industry.

Over the past 20 years the business has grown steadily via a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisition and in 1999 the company was rebranded as Now Recruitment.

Today Now Recruitment employs 39 people in five offices across the UK including its Birmingham Headquarters, Newcastle, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London.

Sector specialisms include construction professional, trades labour, accountancy, mechanical and engineering, rail and education.

Redman is now Group MD to Now Business Group, a &pound53.2 million turnover company incorporating Now Recruitment, Now Careers the Australian arm of the recruitment business, Maddison Group a payroll company and Clifton Chase a specialist Built Environment recruitment agency.

The milestone anniversary was marked with a day-long conference for all Now Business Group employees followed by a celebration at the Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar and Marco Pierre White’s new restaurant at Hotel Indigo in Birmingham.

At the event Redman also hosted an award ceremony marking the achievements of a number of staff including 15 employees celebrating 10 years or more service to the company.

Gary Redman, Group MD, Now Business Group said: “It was an extremely proud moment to stand up in front of the whole Now Business Group team and toast our 20 year anniversary. We’ve weathered some tough times but have always stayed committed to our aim of providing the best possible service to all those we deal with whether they be clients or candidates.

“It was important for me to mark the achievements of those who’ve worked with me for over a number of years. It is the loyalty, commitment and hard work of the whole team that has helped create the successful business we have today. The celebrations kicked off the year in great style and now we’re looking forward to a fantastic 2012 and the next 20 years of the Now Business Group.”

Ever the entrepreneur Redman has recently launched a new business, Swordfish Events, specialising in event management, venue sourcing and corporate hospitality. Its inaugural project is Cannonball 2000, a driving event which will see car enthusiasts complete a run from London to Barcelona, to Monte Carlo, Milan and Paris raising money for the charity Dreams Come True (www.dtc.org.uk) along the way.
