Recruitment consultancy achieves people management accolade

Recruitment consultancy Linea Resourcing has been awarded silver Investors in People status just 14 months after setting out to acquire it.

The Cardiff-based business, which specialises in permanent mid-market and senior executive roles, was keen to improve its own internal HR processes, along with training, recruitment and induction, giving it a platform to continue growing and investing in its people and their performance.

Established in 2002 and based in Eastern Business Park, St Mellons, Linea Resourcing works in sectors such as engineering, defence, food manufacture, medical devices, human resources and finance.

IIP is a flexible, tailored and easy-to-use people management standard which helps employers achieve their business objectives by developing and harnessing the skills of its people.

Linea believes that by embracing the principles behind IIP it will benefit all stakeholders in the business and make a statement to the outside world that its key asset is its people.

Mike Gorshkov, managing director at Linea Resourcing, said: “Gaining silver IIP status in such a short space of time has helped reinforce and further develop our open, communicative culture.

“It’s a stamp on the business that proves how important our employees are to us and how seriously we take their personal development, input into the business and performance.

“Only 2.5% of all the IIP recognitions in the UK are silver, and the fact that we’ve been able to achieve this level of award first time around is a testament to our ambitious business strategy and the real pride we take in our work. Our people understand the critical part they play in the future success of Linea Resourcing we can’t get where we want to without them, and the relationship between the business and employees is vital to achieve growth, success, consistency and eventually excellence.”

This accolade comes after Linea celebrated a record year in 2011, achieving 21st place in Wales Fast Growth 50 with growth of 95% and the expansion of its team into 3,200 sq ft of new modern office space in St Mellons.

Linea has made great strides in opening up its internal communications, maximising the potential for innovation and the hot-housing of ideas as well as improving its internal recruitment and induction process

Gemma Gadd, operations and training manager at Linea, coordinated the IIP application. She said: “We have implemented a training process for new starters that allows us to take inexperienced recruiters into the business and have a realistic timeframe for completing training without impacting on the workload of billing consultants or affecting our ability to generate revenue and achieve our objectives.

“We also now have methods for evaluating the training needs of existing recruiters and our performance assessment methods have improved dramatically, with much more interaction from staff members. Career planning, coaching and awareness of business objectives have also improved.”

The next step for Linea Resourcing is to maintain and utilise the silver standard to its greatest effect a procedure which it is anticipated will take a further 12 to 18 months.

Once embedded into Linea’s culture, the aim is to achieve gold status.

Mr Gorshkov added: “Our current priority is to maintain our silver standard. As we gained this accreditation quickly, we need to ensure that we making the most of this fantastic accolade.”

Linea Resourcing has a customer base of more than 200, ranging from high profile PLCs to hi-tech start ups across Wales and the south West, serviced by 18 members of staff.
