With the current unpredictable economic climate, do you believe that interim managers are a stronger alternative to permanent hires?

A survey by leading global interim management provider Alium Partners has revealed the majority of respondents believe interims managers are a stronger alternative to permanent hires.

With the UK economy showing signs of improvement in the first three months of 2012, but still looking sluggish in many areas, the knowledge and experience that interim management can bring is proving to be an option for many UK businesses.

The results of the “Alium Asks” poll, conducted in March, shows that 75% of those questioned believe that interim management is a stronger alternative to permanent hires, with only 25% backing the full-time option.

The survey, which was on the Alium website home page (, reflects the fact that there is still healthy demand for interim-led solutions, despite constraints in both the private and public sectors.

Commenting on the results of the monthly poll, CEO of Alium Mike Hollin said: “It is very encouraging to see that interim management is still the solution of choice for many organisations and businesses today.

“Interim managers are required for a variety of reasons whether a company needs an interim CEO for 3 months or a Transformation Director for a year, the skills that they bring and the knowledge that they leave behind, show interim solutions to be a very viable alternative to permanent hires or external consultancies in today’s unpredictable marketplace. “
