Spencer Ogden Enters Asia with Singapore Office

Spencer Ogden opens its first Asian office in Singapore today. The global energy recruitment agency made the strategic decision to enter the Asian market due to the expanding oil and gas market in China and significant growth in the Australian upstream market.

Leading the Singapore office and Asia Pacific expansion is newly appointed Director, Bradley Lewington. Lewington brings eight years of energy recruitment experience and leadership with him as founder and managing director of the technical brand of Eximius Group.

Explaining Spencer Ogden’s latest move Lewington says: “There has been a noted growth in demand, and a rising number of long term energy projects in Asia Pacific region. This is due to rapid economic growth, urbanisation and industrialisation as well as population growth, which is causing an increase in energy consumption within the area. The result is a growing demand for skilled workers, and entering the market we hope to take advantage of this surge, focusing initially on upstream and downstream oil & gas projects before expanding across the APAC region.”

The Singapore office is the latest in a series of developments from Spencer Ogden, which first entered the energy recruitment market in 2010. Since then the agency has become recognised as leader within its sector, achieving an annual &pound18.4 million turnover in 2011 and hiring a team of over 100 across five existing locations. In April the company launched its mining division, complementing the agency’s seven existing energy sectors including oil and gas, renewables and nuclear energy. Together, these expansions continue to propel the company towards its ambition of becoming the global energy recruiter of choice, and the only end to end recruiter in the energy and mining markets.
