Theo Paphitis Honours Winner of Many Hands Charity Campaign Award

Dragons’ Den star visits Communicate in recognition of Gary Chaplin’s fundraising efforts for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

Renowned headhunter Gary Chaplin had just cause to celebrate last night. In recognition of scooping the Many Hands Charity Campaign Award, won for his fundraising bike ride from London to Manchester for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH), Theo Paphitis treated Chaplin and his colleagues at Communicate Recruitment Solutions to a private audience to officially celebrate his winning efforts

Chaplin was inspired to enter Many Hands and fundraise for RMCH after nurses from a hospital linked to the charity saved his daughter Ava’s life when she was born six weeks premature.

A keen athlete, Chaplin organised a bike ride from the Ryman store on the Strand to the Velodrome in Manchester, via the hospital, raising &pound14,000 for RMCH. His engagement with social media also assisted the fundraising efforts, with celebrities and notable individuals including Bradley Wiggins and Lance Armstrong re-tweeting news about the event and charity.

Congratulating Chaplin on his win, Paphitis said, “Gary’s award was very well deserved. He raised a massive &pound14,000 which was a phenomenal achievement. His pitch on the deciding night was unforgettable because the entire presentation was given while cycling!”

Chaplin added, “It is extremely humbling to be the winner of the Many Hands Award, especially against such stiff competition and fantastic charity initiatives by some great businesses.

“Getting recognition for your efforts is always welcome, but this was particularly emotive: the Charity and the Children’s Hospital are very close to my heart, and the support and team spirit encountered were unlike anything I have ever experienced before.

“I am honoured to welcome Theo to Communicate. As a champion of entrepreneurs and SMEs, Theo embodies the values we ourselves hold: innovation, hunger, passion, and commitment to continuous improvement.”
