As if riding your bike 40 miles around the mountainous roads of Wales wasn’t enough, Team Cummins Mellor Recruitment also climbed Snowdon and canoed around Lake Gwynant in North Wales all in one day.

The all girl team from Accrington in Lancashire also won the “Best Team Spirit” award and had to all finish the whole course to complete the Snowdon Challenge in aid of charity.

However, team member Jodie Morgan was injured on the way up Snowdon and the team presumed she’d have to give in. But her father, Tyrone, met her at the top of the mountain and encouraged her down and back onto her bike. She then cycled 10 miles like the wind to catch up with the rest of the team at the Lake then finished the canoeing session and the final bike ride over the Penn-y-pass back to Llanberis to complete the Challenge.

Jodie said “I was so pleased to see that the other girls had waited for me at the lake to complete the canoe trip. I could have cried. We’ve been practising every weekend since winter, riding bikes, walking in The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales as well as canoe sessions at Clitheroe Canoe Club. It would have been a real shame if we hadn’t finished together. To be awarded “Best Team Spirit” prize out of 70 teams was quite an achievement. None of us had done anything like this before and it was all for Charity.”

The team raised over &pound2,000 and the whole event raised over &pound100,000 for REGAIN which helps support hundreds of tetraplegics injured in sporting accidents throughout the UK.
