Lord holds a torch for Safe!

Olympic torch bearer Kate Lord completed her relay through Chesterfield recently to a crowd of an estimated 20,000 people.

From countless applicants, Kate, 19, was chosen as she has a real passion for local sport. She was picked at an early age for the Derbyshire swimming team, however due to illness at 13 years of age she had to stop competing. Now sport is still her passion, she teaches swimming and has been recognised in athletics at county and cross-county levels. In late summer of this year Kate will be travelling to Uganda with her university fellows to teach sports to orphans in the area.

As the daughter of Andy Lord, Professional Services Director for Safe’s Derby Office, Kate gave staff at Safe’s largest three offices in Leicester, Nottingham and Derby a treat with a tour of the torch. Kate came along to each office and joined staff in full Olympic torchbearer tracksuit sporting her gold 2012 Olympic logo embossed torch, holding it aloft for photos.
