Loyal British Workers are Burnt Out at Work reveals CareerBuilder.co.uk

workers are some of the most loyal in Europe, reveals a new survey by CareerBuilder.co.uk, despite over half (51%) feeling their workload has increased since the beginning of the year and 74% feeling burnt out in their current job.

Seventy one per cent of British workers feel loyalty to their current employer, compared to 67% of French workers, and well over half (60%) of UK employees are unlikely to change jobs in the next 12 months despite 41% feeling they are overqualified for their current position.

Tony Roy, President of CareerBuilder EMEA, says:  “The economic challenges faced by businesses in the UK and across Europe have forced managers to try and maintain pre-recession productivity with a smaller workforce.

“This puts increased pressure on employees and impacts staff morale. Once the economy improves, employers are likely to see increased turnover as opportunities open up elsewhere and staff identify positions they deem more suitable for their experience.”

Across Europe, German workers were the most likely to report higher stress levels since January (53%) but they’re even less likely to change jobs in the next 12 months compared to UK workers, with just 30 percent planning to make a move.
