Recruitment consultancy reports more than 75% of temporary job applications are coming from overseas

In the lead-up to the Olympic Games more than 75% of temporary job applicants are coming from overseas, according to recruitment consultants Berkeley Scott.  More than a quarter are coming from workers in crisis hit Eurozone countries such as Greece and Spain.

The figures relate to an advert posted by Berkeley Scott for a temporary kitchen assistant in May 2012.

Mike Gardner, Operations Manager at Berkeley Scott, said: “We are seeing more and more people fleeing crisis-hit Eurozone countries such as Greece and Spain and coming to the UK to find work. The Olympic Games have boosted job opportunities across the UK and especially in London.  Despite our own unemployment issues it seems that London is still the place to be when it comes to finding work.”

Berkeley Scott’s figures also revealed that 17% of applicants came from South East Asia, 4% from Eastern Europe and 3% from Nigeria.
