Laking Aran Moorhouse Predicts UK Nuclear Recruitment Challenge

Global recruitment firm, Laking Aran Moorhouse, who specialize in nuclear, oil, gas and power placements, predict the UK will face a nuclear recruitment challenge generated by a demand for experienced talent.

In a recent report compiled by Laking Aran Moorhouse, part of the Phaidon Capital Group, Dale Shaw, Associate Director explores the cause of the challenge ahead and suggests how the UK nuclear industry can overcome it.

Shaw explains, “Nuclear power has been identified as an important source of future power for the UK, as such there are a number of NPP new build projects planned to begin over the next 15 years”

“There is however a real shortage of new engineering talent entering the UK nuclear industry this, combined with an ageing generation of engineers, results in a skills shortage and potentially challenging years ahead for new NPP’s,” adds Shaw.

In the report, released on 1st August 2012, Shaw explores the prospect of attracting talent from overseas, and details what employers should consider before relocating a candidate to the UK.

Shaw explains, “In order to successfully attract nuclear engineering talent to the UK, we need to ensure employers understand what motivates a candidate to relocate.”

The report breaks down the motivations of an experienced candidate and offers comprehensive advice to employers looking to hire from overseas.
