Meridian Joins the IOR to Ensure a Professional Future

In a move to ensure that its staff have access to world-class training and professional resources, Meridian Business Support has become the latest corporate member of the Institute of Recruiters (IOR).

As the UK’s leading independent recruitment company, Meridian has a track record in providing relevant and accredited training to its national team. This was highlighted in 2011 when the company was recognised for the success of its Agency Workers Regulation educational programme conducted with every member of staff. Satisfied that the latest deal the IOR has signed with the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning (ITOL) will guarantee that their exacting standards of training can now be delivered via a third party, Meridian has agreed membership for its entire 300 staff.

Mark Mitchell, chief executive, says: “We have been impressed by how the IOR has identified and responded to the needs of its members from pragmatic help through to certified training and qualifications, the IOR is intuitive and agile and makes it easy for members to access its broad range of resources. Now that all the IOR’s qualifications are fully-accredited and underpinned by the British National Occupations Standards, we feel that they will make the perfect partner to support our training and educational mandate.

“We also believe that the IOR is geared to grow significantly in the future based on the achievements of its inaugural year. We very much want to be part of this progress.”

Azmat Mohammed, director general of the IOR, responds: “We have been very clear from the outset that the recruitment industry can only become a professional sector of British industry through professional training and education. This has been a focus for the IOR and an area that we’ve demonstrated success in, especially with the ITOL agreement.

“What was also very attractive to Meridian was the fact that under IOR corporate membership all the company’s employees become individual members at no extra cost. This means that its national team has equal access to all our resources and clients who interact with them can see that they are members of a professional body. The IOR believes that corporate membership is only effective when all of the staff is included in that membership.”
