Aligra offer helping hand to charities

Regional recruitment agency Aligra have so far raised more than &pound4000 during 2012 through a scheme which allows their workforce to make a small regular weekly contribution to the charity fund.

The fund, which is topped up by Aligra, has recently made significant awards to both local and national charities. Both Aligra’s head office staff and the flexible workforce were invited to nominate charities close to their hearts to be considered.

Mark Neilson, Managing Director said & lsquo; We are delighted that with the help of our workers and staff we have been able to make donations to such worthy causes. Our team at Aligra have nominated the chosen charities, many for personal reasons. We hope that we can really make a difference’. They are Tami’s Wish, Corey Cummings Fund and Ronald McDonald House in Bristol”.

Tami’s wish is a charity set up by Tami Brown, an inspirational young women from Swindon who sadly passed away in July, and raises money for The Prospect Hospice and Yes to Life. Chris Miller, style director at Miller and Holland in Old Town embarked on a mission to set a world record for endurance hairdressing by completing 50 haircuts in 50 hours in support of Tami’s Wish. Aligra supported him wholeheartedly with Emma Neilson, Director, having her hair cut at midnight on Saturday 8th September. Emma revealed that she went in fancy dress & lsquo;I decided to turn up dressed as a bee to help raise spirits and break the monotony. Chris and I had a real giggle and I came away with a great haircut too!’

The Corey Cummings Fund has been set up to raise funds for local boy 6 year old Corey Cummings, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. Emma Neilson, Director presented the cheque with her son, Sonny (5), to Corey and his Mum, Kelly. She said & lsquo;Corey is a delightful little boy full of fun and his Mum is an absolute inspiration. I hope that the money goes someway to helping Corey achieve his dream of walking’.

Ronald McDonald House, based in Bristol, is an independent charity which provides Home from Home accommodation, free of charge, to the families of critically ill children receiving care at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
