Cardea Resourcing Take The Great North Run

On 16th September, a team of nine from health and social care recruitment company, Cardea Resourcing took part in the UK’s biggest mass participation event, the 2012 BUPA Great North Run to raise money for Rethink Mental Illness.

The team, including four novice runners, all completed the 13.1 mile course from Newcastle to South Shields. The best time was achieved by Thom Marley, a consultant from Durham, who did 1hrs and 49m.

Literally heading up the team was managing director, Tony Woollett who says:

“It was a great event, from Mo Farah starting the race to passing & lsquo;Tony the Fridge’ who has completed 30 Great North Runs with a fridge on his back!”

“We all had a great run and to recover from the wet conditions we enjoyed a post-run pint!”

“I’m delighted we’ve already raise over &pound1000 for our charity, Rethink Mental Illness. I wanted us to run for Rethink as I really admire their work. I’ve got family affected by mental illness, so I know some of the difficulties it can cause.”

“I hope the Great North Run is only the start of us raising money for the thousands of people having to live with mental health problems in the UK.”
