Global Medics’ international growth bucks economic trend

In the face of growing anxiety surrounding the Eurozone crisis and all eyes looking to economic growth driven by consumption of British products and services abroad, Global Medics, a leading medical recruitment company for doctors, is setting the standards for others to follow.

With an impressive 158% growth in international sales since 2009, its achievements have recently been recognised in the prestigious Sunday Times International Track 200 league table Global Medics was placed at No 15 and was the highest ranked recruitment company.

As one of only 23 companies to achieve triple digit sales growth in the league table, the company’s overseas market share currently stands at 64% of business and sales are being driven by underlying base-business growth and robust emerging markets performance for Global Medics in the UK, Ireland, Europe, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. With current 2011 financial results showing overseas revenues grew by 236% - from &pound9.9m to &pound2.21m - this success looks set to continue.

Justyn Randall, founder and CEO of Global Medics, comments: “The increased growth within our international markets is testament to our ability to meet not only our doctor’s but also our client’s specific needs within the ever changing healthcare environments that we are faced with today. We are extremely proud of our achievements at a time when economic forecasts paint a negative view of British business capabilities overseas.

“The majority of our sales revenue and growth can be attributed to our European and Asia Pacific businesses. In particular our European business has gone from strength to strength with a revenue growth rate for 2011 in excess of 200%. This was largely driven by our ability to capitalise on opportunities made available to us by the successful tender for a framework contract in the Republic of Ireland. Our global standing as a recruitment specialist for doctors enabled us to find the best candidates for the jobs from our 50,000 strong worldwide database and deliver a high calibre of doctors to the government’s hospitals. As one of only a limited number of preferred companies chosen, we have subsequently become the largest supplier of locum doctors to the Republic of Ireland.”

In addition, Global Medics’ business in Asia Pacific has grown in excess of 300% from 2010 to 2011. Again growth has been driven by its overseas resourcing capabilities, which enables the company to find the skillset required for any role from its huge global database of doctors. The result is a continual delivery of high quality locum candidates that many of Global Medics’ competitors do not have access to. Coupled with the development of strong, long-term relationships with clients, Global Medics’ headcount for this sector has now nearly tripled since the beginning of the 2011 financial year.

Justyn Randall adds: “Our success is built upon being much more than a simple recruitment company we give doctors the opportunity to make professional and lifestyle choices that will enable them to travel the world.

“Whilst having a large pool of doctors to work with, this cannot be the only attributing factor to our success. We believe that that way we do business speaks volumes too. We are driven not only by the desire to find the best doctor for the job, but by also working in partnership with them to navigate careers paths, manage the migration process and ensure back up support throughout.”

Established in 2000, Global Medics is a leading provider of workforce management solutions to the international healthcare market, working across three continents and in five countries. It recruits for locum, contract and permanent doctors in primary and secondary care, both across established and emerging geographies, and is committed to providing career advice tools for doctors looking to take the first or next step on the international career ladder.

Global Medics oversees the entire recruitment process, from understanding the career aspirations and goals of candidates on its global database to handling the migration process once a position has been found - obtaining visas and completing the relevant paperwork, organising relocation and short-term accommodation and helping to find schooling for doctors’ children, if required.

In turn, clients benefit from the company’s international resource capabilities and its skill in providing alternative solutions to their requirements, often sourcing for roles others cannot deliver against, such as challenging and remote geographic locations. Strong partnerships with clients are built upon Global Medics’ ability to make a difference and supply the right doctor at the right time.
