Ground Work and Hard Work Pays Dividends

Ground Work and Hard Work Pays Dividends

In the world of construction and property related recruitment, C&P Recruitment are enjoying a flying start to their new financial year. Turnover is up 54%, gross profit up 50% and operating profit up 38%. Whilst the bulk of our work is still coming from the temporary recruitment market there is a marked increase in companies recruiting for permanent positions within the sector.

There is no denying that the last few years have been a tough market to trade in. The construction industry in Scotland has been all but brought to its knees as result of the global economic meltdown.

Reacting to market conditions has been key to C&P Recruitment’s ability to maintain profitability. When the first signs of the recession took hold C&P recruitment were quick to cut costs, limit exposure to bad debt and to renegotiate supplier contracts. This strategy served to focus the business, taking it back to its basic service and sales function. This approach allowed us to examine our business operations in fine detail allowing us to develop clear customer service and sales strategies.

C&P Recruitment’s organic growth strategy is working well and the past year has seen an increase in headcount in our 3 offices by 30%. This increase has also opened the door to a significant number of new clients. Having invested a significant sum in upgrading our database software and IT platform we are able to offer an exceptional level of service and which assisted the process of gaining positions on numerous Preferred Supplier Lists. Maintaining client relationships has been an essential factor in sustaining business levels and remembering that more business comes from existing clients than new ones has always been at the forefront of our operations.

Social media is being used to engage our candidate database, e-marketing campaigns are being implemented to encourage re-acquaintance and also as a means of communicating job vacancies the second they become live. Further development is continuing in this area as we are working to ensure that our database is as current as possible and to encourage communication.

We aim to continue on our current growth trajectory, with our immediate plan being to keep up the hard work, maintain the ground work and keep C&P Recruitment on the path to success.
