Morgan Hunt go the extra mile to raise money for the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust

Morgan Hunt, the award-winning recruitment agency, launched its new & lsquo;Morgan Hunt Miles’ scheme on Friday 21 September with a charity fundraising day to kick-start the new fitness initiative and raise money for the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust.

The Morgan Hunt Miles scheme is being delivered as part of the ongoing Morgan Hunt Active programme, developed by Morgan Hunt to promote a fit and healthy workforce by encouraging employees to lead healthy lifestyles and take part in regular fitness activity. All employees were allocated a personal pedometer to track their Morgan Hunt miles so that they can compete with one another and increase their fitness level over the course of the programme.

As part of the charity fundraising day employees at the Morgan Hunt London, Manchester and Birmingham offices dressed up as their favourite sports personalities and competed in sports and fitness related activities to win prizes such as annual gym membership packages and personal training sessions.

Adam Whitehead, former European and Commonwealth swimming champion and Tom Davis, Commonwealth Judo champion, attended the event on behalf of the DKH Legacy Trust to give employees a motivating speech to launch the event and help encourage participation and take part in the activities themselves throughout the day.

The competitions included row off challenges, a batak board competition, press-up and arm conditioning challenges, as well as Nintendo Wii tournaments. Employees paid entry fees to take part in competitions and place bets on their favourites to win.

Over the course of the day Morgan Hunt raised a total of &pound700 for the DKH Legacy Trust which the Morgan Hunt Board of Directors then matched to take the total donation up to &pound1400. Alongside this a number of Morgan Hunt employees are also competing in DKH Legacy Trust sponsored events, including the Virgin Active London Triathlon and the Great South Run, to raise additional funds for the charity.

To thank Morgan Hunt employees for their fundraising efforts and encourage them to take a dedicated and committed approach to the new Morgan Hunt Miles scheme Dame Kelly Holmes visited the Morgan Hunt London office to give a speech to all employees on Tuesday 25 September. Dame Kelly praised Morgan Hunt for its continued support of her charity and showed a video of the different programmes the DKH Legacy Trust offers to disadvantaged young people and the positive impact these programmes have on their lives and future career prospects.

Dame Kelly said:  “I’m delighted to have Morgan Hunt as a partner to my charity, the DKH Legacy Trust. Their support has made such a difference to our work in getting young lives on track. They really have gone the extra mile for us through their fundraising and even contributing to our & lsquo;Get on Track’ programme to offer expert advice and work experience opportunities to help our young people step onto the career ladder.”

James Stevenson, Managing Director at Morgan Hunt said: “It was great to have Dame Kelly here today to inspire and motivate our employees to really embrace the new Morgan Hunt Miles scheme. It’s really important to Morgan Hunt that as a company we encourage employees to lead active and healthy lifestyles and our ongoing partnership with the DKH Legacy Trust is an integral part of this mission. We’ve been a major supporter of Dame Kelly’s charity for some years now and it’s been really rewarding to be reminded by Dame Kelly today of the life-changing programmes our contributions support.”
