Search celebrates first year of success in building the winning team for Glasgow 2014
From a creative film-maker to finance experts....leading UK recruitment consultants Search mark their first successful year of finding the right people to fill key roles within the team delivering the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
In the past 12 months Search, Glasgow 2014’s Official Recruitment Consultancy, has secured more than 200 individuals with the right skills required to deliver Scotland's largest-ever multi-sports event.

The recruitment specialists are now gearing up to find the best people on the market across Scotland and internationally to fill the further 800-plus job opportunities that will become available as the Games’ vision and ambitions are brought to life. Some of the exciting opportunities currently being advertised include the roles of Sports Competition Manager for Rugby Sevens and a General Manager for the Games Operations Centre.
Commenting today, Simone Lockhart, Managing Director of Search Consultancy Scotland, said: “I'm delighted with the real and positive progress Search has delivered working in partnership with Glasgow 2014 to secure the right people to play their part in delivering an outstanding Commonwealth Games for Scotland.

“We are proud to be creating a winning team and ensuring we maximise the career and development opportunities the Games can create for hundreds of individuals at so many different stages of their careers – from school leavers to senior management - with many different skills and across a wide range of sectors and industries.

“Not only will Glasgow and Scotland have the positive legacy of an up-skilled workforce with direct experience of delivering a multi-sport global event, the Games offer further opportunities to more than 30,000 people who will be employed by contractors who will also contribute to the Glasgow 2014 success story.”

Glasgow2014 Chief Executive David Grevemberg said: “Having a dynamic team of excellent people working within the Organising Committee is essential both to the success of Glasgow 2014 and to the legacy of skills we can create for Glasgow and Scotland.   Search Consultancy is playing a vital role in bringing this winning team together.

“As we move closer to bringing the Games to life, we look forward to further positive collaboration with our Search Consultancy colleagues who share our goals and ambitions for an athlete centred and sports focused Commonwealth Games."

Thousands of people have already expressed an interest in joining the Glasgow 2014 team. Over the past 12 months Search Consultancy has dealt with more than 10,000 applications, conducted more than 2500 telephone interviews and nearly 700 face-to-face interviews.

As recruitment ramps up, approximately 250 staff will be recruited throughout 2013, and about 575 staff will be recruited from the start of 2014, until the end of the Games that August.
