TEC Group Short Listed For Major Award

TEC Group has beaten hundreds of entrants to be short-listed for the London regional final of the prestigious National Apprenticeship Awards and National Training Awards 2012.

TEC Group is a London based agency, working in the international Oil & Gas sector. Part of the Compello Staffing Group, TEC Group is a rapidly growing business with offices in South London, Scotland and Manchester. TEC Group decided to employ apprentices as part of its long term growth strategy, investing and training young local people in recruitment sales. Since they began training Apprentices, some have completed their training and are now fully trained Recruitment Consultants. More Apprentices have been recruited and are due to complete their training soon, giving TEC Group a steady intake of young, well trained, talent. TEC Group is thrilled to be selected a finalist in the National Apprenticeship Awards, Small Employer of the Year category, especially as this is their first year of training Apprentices.

Managing Director, James Harding said, “This is thoroughly satisfying recognition for TEC Group and our Apprentice programme, and also testament to the hard work which our Apprentices have put into their training. We are proud that, as a small company we are able to create new employment in the economy and our local community, whist at the same time achieving a fantastic return on our investment.”

The National Training Awards recognise organisations that have delivered outstanding training programmes and the National Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the achievements of the country’s most outstanding Apprenticeship employers and their apprentices. Both awards are organised by the National Apprenticeship Service, who received in excess of 1,500 high quality entrants this year.

The winners will be announced at a high profile joint awards ceremony organised by the National Apprenticeship Service, which will be held City Hall on Tuesday 25th September.

Vic Grimes, Divisional Area Director for London and South East from the National Apprenticeship Service, said: “Apprenticeships and training are the lifeblood of the region’ s economy, bringing many benefits to businesses and giving people the skills and qualifications they need to excel in their chosen careers. These awards give us a great opportunity to celebrate this and inspire many other employers and individuals.

“We received an outstanding calibre of entries for the National Apprenticeship Awards and National Training Awards this year and I would like to congratulate TEC Groupfor being short-listed and wish them the very best of luck.”

All the London winners will proceed through to a final national judging stage and the highest scoring Apprenticeship employer entries nationally will have the additional honour of featuring in the acclaimed England’s Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, which will be produced by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds.The Top 100 Apprenticeship Employersand the national award winners will be revealed during the opening ceremony of the UK’s largest national skills and careers event, WorldSkills UK - The Skills Show, at the NEC in Birmingham on 14 November.

The National Apprenticeship Awards are sponsored by City & Guilds, Pearson, EAL, Nuclear Decommissioning SLC and BAE Systems. The National Training Awards have City & Guilds as their premier sponsor and also sponsored by Rolls Royce.

The London awards ceremony is generously supported by the Mayor of London, The Greater London Authority and HSBC who have provided the venue and reception.
