APSCo Awards for Excellence 2012 winners announced

The winners of the 2012 APSCoAwards for Excellence - sponsored by RBS and Giant – were announced yesterday (17th October) at a business lunch with guest speaker Baroness Kingsmill. These coveted annual awards recognise and celebrate achievement in the recruitment industry and are a major indicator of professional standards throughout this sector.

The awards ceremony started with a presentation by Baroness Kingsmill - a member of the House of Lords, whose career has encompassed periods as a leading lawyer, Deputy Chair of the Competition Commission and as a non-executive director of plc, private, charitable, arts and government boards. In her speech, she debated a number of topical recruitment and employment issues not least the fact that procurers of our services focus on the value that recruitment consultancies add – rather than margin.

Entries for the APSCo Awards were judged by an independent panel of experts, chaired by recruitment veteran and former APSCo Chairman Les Clark. The & lsquo;Recruitment Company of the Year’ awards were judged by Katie Folwell-Davies, a Partner at Deloitte, Chris Clark from Highfield Advisory, Sean Dixon from RBS, and Godfrey Morrell, an independent consultant to the recruitment industry.

The judging panel for & lsquo;Innovator of the Year’,’ Affiliate Member of the Year’, & lsquo;International Recruitment Company of the Year’ and & lsquo;Recruitment Company with the most Sustainable Growth’ consisted of Simon Kite from Saffery Champness, Martin Reed from Thomas International, Ade McCormack from Auridian Consulting, and Aaron Boland from RBS.

“As the only awards in the recruitment sector that require shortlisted businesses to attend a Q&A session with a judging panel, they are without doubt the most onerous, demanding and perhaps most challenging out there” commented Marilyn Davidson, Director of APSCo. “And from sitting through the judging day it was very clear to me just how much the recruitment sector has grown and matured in recent times with all shortlisted companies – from SMEs to large international agencies – demonstrating clear and comprehensive strategies for their business. It was certainly a tough job deciding on the winners and all entrants should feel very proud of their hard work in what can only be described as the most fiercely contested awards to date”.
