ARC warn of complacency as recruitment industry differ over the impact of The Agency Worker Regulations
Recent surveys on the impact of the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR), which came into force just over a year ago, present a varied and inconsistent picture.
The REC’s statistics published this week do not concur with those of the CBI and furthermore do not seem to be concerned with the considerable cost that the implementation of the regulations has had on the recruitment supply sector and its clients.
There is also little evidence to support the position that the AWR have actually benefitted workers, to the contrary, reports from workers and recruiters alike point to many assignments only lasting 12 weeks with jobs being lost thereafter.
ARC External Policy Advisor, Ben Grover of ARC says “Such conflicting survey results do not help and we certainly warn against complacency. A review is more pressing than ever and this view is widely shared in the industry.”
