APSCo launches training & development division with appointment of Fiona Lander

APSCo has announced that it has appointed Fiona Lander as Head of Professional Development in a move that will see the launch, in January, of a new APSCo professional training division.

“The members have been asking for a training offering for some time”, says Ann Swain, Chief Executive of APSCo. “But I was absolutely determined that we would not offer training unless we had a best of breed product and service.  I am delighted therefore that we have persuaded Fiona to join us to develop our professional development offering - an offering which will include the immediate benefit of a Chartered qualification in recruitment leadership which Fiona developed with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).  What this gives us is professional qualification that is not only globally recognised across all industries – but which has also been tailored to be relevant to the recruitment profession. We were the first trade association to offer an MBA and now we will the first to offer a Chartered qualification.”

Fiona, who has over thirty years’ recruitment industry experience and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development ( CIPD), will also be responsible for developing training to complement APSCo’s Recruitment Practice Standard (RPS) online qualifications, developing the APSCo Talent Hub, progressing the Recruitment Apprenticeship scheme and further promoting the Recruitment MBA.  The training will not be restricted to APSCo members although existing members will get a preferential rate. “This is about raising the bar across the whole profession – not just our membership,” adds Swain.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining APSCo,” says Fiona. I have been looking for a way of working differently for some time.  This gives me the opportunity to get back to what I do best – developing a portfolio of training products which will be responsive to the needs of the members, shaping a training division that will have the customer at its very centre and arming recruiters with professional training that will really mean something. This is the beginning of a new era for APSCo – we have a ground floor opportunity to build a solid, customer centric and quality driven professional development division– and I can’t wait to get started!  ”
