JAM RECRUITMENT APPOINTS AEROSPACE HEAVYWEIGHT AS GROUP BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

JAM Recruitment has appointed Grahame Nix OBE as group business development director.

He brings over 30 years’ industry experience to JAM, having joined Marshall Aerospace as a graduate trainee in 1980.

He became a member of the board with responsibility for all production activity in 1995, was Chief Operating Officer from 2006 and latterly was also Managing Director of the company’s Operational Support Services business until his departure in 2011. During his time at Marshall Grahame also established market-leading Aerospace and Engineering recruitment business Aeropeople.

During his time with the company, Grahame oversaw a wide range of civil and military projects including securing one of only two non-US production extensions for aircraft manufacturer McDonnell Douglas and securing a &pound1.5bn support contract for the entire fleet of RAF Hercules aircraft in 2006.

Grahame was non-executive director and is now advisor to the board of manufacturers’ organisation the EEF, deputy chairman of council at engineering research company TWI, and a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

Grahame Nix said: “Having experience of the labour market, both as a user and supplier I know all too well the challenges faced not only by the aerospace sector but across the UK manufacturing industry, and what a significant barrier to growth these can be.

“The vision John Morris has for making JAM Recruitment an indispensable partner to engineering and manufacturing in negotiating these challenges is hugely impressive, and I am looking forward to helping the company deliver it.

John Morris, CEO of JAM Recruitment, said: “Grahame’s experience and achievement in manufacturing, and specifically aerospace, is almost unrivalled and he will be an invaluable addition to JAM.

“Grahame’s focus will be on continued delivery of exceptional customer service by every team across the business, based on deep understanding of project requirements and the available talent pool.”

Manchester-based JAM Recruitment provides specialist skills to the UK’s defence, aerospace, technology, energy, manufacturing and professional services sectors, with a portfolio including recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), permanent and contract services.

The business has placed more than 9,000 staff into employment to date, is a trusted recruitment partner to some of the UK’s biggest employers and works closely with manufacturers’ organisation the EEF.
