Operation Christmas Child put into action.

Operation Christmas Child put into action.

Recruitment agency Connex Education has been taking part in Operation Christmas Child.

More than a million children around the world will receive a shoe box of gifts just for them, knowing that they are not forgotten this Christmas.

Lorraine Bedwell, National Sales Manager at Connex Education, brought this charitable giving experience to light and everyone across the company got involved.

“The staff at Connex are amazing” she said “I thought this cause was incredible, so I brought it to the attention of all my colleagues, who all wanted to take part.”

With offices in Liverpool, London, Birmingham, Nottingham and Warrington, the staff all chose to purchase for either a boy or girl and in a specific age group.

“Operation Christmas is an opportunity to think about those less fortunate than ourselves,” Chris Foster, Branch Manager of the Nottingham office said. “We had great fun putting them together!”

Samaritan’s Purse, is the charity behind the Operation Christmas Child and serves people from all faiths. The celebration of giving a shoebox gift is extended out to 105 countries around the world, and the charity has been doing this for over 22 years.

Paul Birchall from the Liverpool Office (and HQ) went to his local Next shop in Liverpool One and asked if they had any empty shoe boxes they could use.

“They were so helpful” Paul recalled, “Their donation of the shoe boxes themselves made the task so much easier and more enjoyable, as we could concentrate on buying for the children.”

Earlier this year Connex Education raised over &pound2,000 for their charity Whizz- Kidz, and each office often takes part in local charitable events.  The men of Connex are all taking part in the Movember campaign, again raising money and awareness for a good cause.

Mark Beedles, MD said “We have a huge Corporate Social Responsibility agenda at Connex.  It makes me proud to see the staff so involved and enthused to help others.”
