Orion Group Toasts 25 years of Success with its own Malt

The UK’s leading independent manpower provider in the engineering sector is toasting its 25th year in business by bottling its very own 25-year-old Highland single malt Scotch whisky. Orion Group chairman Alan Savage was on hand to welcome the first bottle from the production line in a celebratory launch held at Tomatin Distillery.

Orion Group teamed up with Highland based Tomatin Distillery to create a unique single malt which will be given to a number of clients as a goodwill gift for their help in making the business the success it is today.

With only 100 bottles being produced – labelled 1-100, and worth an estimated &pound150 each, the recipients are in for a rare treat when they receive one of these custom packaged bottles of whisky.

Proud to add one-time distiller to his list of achievements is founder and Chairman of Orion Group, Alan Savage said:  “We have had several events already to celebrate our anniversary in 2012, but this one is something really special. It’s not every day you get to bottle your own malt whisky, especially one that’s aged a quarter of a century.

This is a rare treat, especially for those who know their whisky. Our staff and clients have helped shape Orion Group into a market leader, and we want to thank them in true Scottish style, which is why we wanted to work with Tomatin. They are one of the best in the business and are local to Inverness but similar to Orion they have an international reach and can be found in all corners of the globe.”

This launch comes on the back of a highly successful year for Orion Group who recently announced strong financial results to year end 31 December 2011. Turnover rose 25percent to &pound308m (2010: &pound246.3m). Profits increased to &pound9.14m (2010: &pound5.65m), up 62percent.

Alan continued: “It’s been an amazing year for us at Orion Group. I hope everyone enjoys a wee dram with us to celebrate our 25th anniversary.”

Recognised as being one of the highest distilleries in Scotland, Tomatin sits 315 meters above sea level, just south of Inverness, giving it the unique advantage of capturing the water of the Alt-na-Frith burn at its purest.

The Tomatin Distillery was established in 1897 and has been producing top quality single malt Scotch whisky from its base in the Monadhliath Mountains ever since.

Robert Anderson, CEO of Tomatin Distillery says: “It’s always a compliment to be asked to produce a malt for a special occasion. Orion Group has a great reputation in Inverness and around the world so we’re very flattered to have been asked to be part of their anniversary celebrations.

“I am confident that the recipients of the Orion whisky will enjoy it very much.”
