GCS Director Becomes President

David Bloxham, Managing Director of GCS Recruitment Specialists Ltd, has been elected the new President/Lead Ambassador of the Reading Chamber of Commerce. Bloxham, a 38 year old father of three, joined GCS in 1996 immediately after graduating from the University of Reading, where he studied English and French. A champion of local business, Bloxham recently penned a number of articles for the Reading Post, observing the benefits of working within the area, as well as what local businesses could do to reduce unemployment rates.

“I am proud to be given the opportunity to lead the Reading Chamber Council” commented Bloxham. “GCS has always been proud of its links and history within the Thames Valley – Reading in particular. It is a fantastic place to work and live, and I am passionate about helping our town become even more successful in the future.”

Originally based in Fulham, GCS moved to Reading in the early 1990s and has based its headquarters there ever since. An influx of IT companies to the area acted as a catalyst for the region’s economy and GCS, focusing on technology recruitment, grew rapidly in the late 90s. David was appointed Managing Director in 2009 and has been instrumental in GCS’s expansion into the Financial Services market, as well as having implemented a five-year ambition that has, after two years, already seen the company increase turnover from &pound21.5m to &pound31.5m.

“I’m delighted that David has agreed to take on this important role” said Paul Briggs, Chief Executive of the Thames Valley Chamber. “David has the local knowledge, drive and commitment to promote successful enterprise growth in Reading and I look forward to working with him in the months ahead.”
