BIS To Speak At APSCo March Meeting

BIS To Speak At APSCo March Meeting

The Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) has confirmed that it will attend APSCo’s March meeting in order to directly engage with members -  giving a further indication of its  recognition of the difference between those recruitment firms that provide lower paid and potentially vulnerable workers – and those that  resource professional staff.

Caroline Daly, Senior Policy Adviser for the Labour Market Directorate at BIS will be joined by a number of her  senior colleagues a for a panel discussion which will be chaired by APSCo Chief Executive Ann Swain.

“We are delighted that BIS will be engaging with our members directly on the proposed changes to the conduct regulations”, said Ann Swain.  “We have always very clearly defined our role as acting on behalf of recruiters operating in professional sectors and the APSCo Working Group, led by our Head of External Affairs Samantha Hurley, has already been in talks with BIS about producing legislation which avoids a & lsquo;one size fits all’ approach . This discussion will be a great opportunity not only for our members to hear the thinking behind the consultation, but also for BIS to garner important feedback on the need for any legislation to be appropriately targeted.”
