Springboard Umbrella runs for charity at the Reading Half Marathon

Seven of Springboard Umbrellastaff members have stepped up to run the Reading Half Marathon on 17th March 2013 with an aim to raise funds for New Life – Special Care Babies. This marks Springboard’s first big charity event of 2013, showing yet again that Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of the Springboard culture.

A team of four will run the corporate relay challenge running 3 miles each, while the other three members will run the entire 13.1 miles. “Running in front of a crowd alongside athletes isn’t going to be easy however, our team has been training hard and we run 4-5 miles together a couple of times each week in preparation for the race. Sticking to a training regime has shown great results on our fitness levels and I plan to stick to this lifestyle even after the marathon is over” said Justin Coyne, Head of Finance at Springboard.

The members participating in the Marathon are:

Corporate Relay Challenge (3.2 miles each) - Kevin Morrison, Justin Coyne, Prithpal Singh ,Jo Westerman.

Full Marathon (13.1 miles each) - Dale Simkiss, Richard Stone, Nicki Shelton.

Dale Simkiss, Operations Manager of Springboard commented “2013 is the year to train hard and doing something for a local charity while also getting fit is something that goes down very well at Springboard. The initial target was to raise &pound500 and we are already at &pound295 thanks to generous donations from friends, families and suppliers. We are hoping even more people will step forward to acknowledge our efforts and support this great cause”.

All funds raised will go to The Buscot Ward – a special baby care unit at The Royal Berkshire Hospital (Charity number – 1052720 ref u356). If you wish to donate to Springboard, please visit Springboard Umbrella’s Just giving page.
