Acorn Strengthens Position With Major New Contract Win

Leading South West recruitment specialist Acorn has strengthened its position in the region with a substantial new contract win, valued at over &pound2 million.

Acorn has been selected by South West Water and Source for Business to supply temporary workers in its locations across the region for the next three years, with an option to extend the contract by a further two years.  South West Water provides drinking water and waste water services throughout Cornwall and Devon, and in small areas of Dorset and Somerset.  Its sister company, Source for Business, provides a dedicated range of water, sewerage and environmental services to businesses to help them save money and improve their performance.

As part of the Pennon Group, Exeter-based South West Water is the largest employer in the South West - with more than 1,200 employees - and is a major driving force behind the region’s economy.

While the new contract will be run from Acorn’s Exeter branch, with two Acorn professionals managing the day to day contract on site, all of Acorn’s South West branches will be involved in providing staff solutions to the water and sewage giant across the region.

As sole supplier of staff to South West Water and Source, which have 750,000 billed customers, Acorn will be responsible for providing the business with a wide range of skilled staff including project managers, waste water operators, meter readers, laboratory staff, delivery leaders, admininistrative and customer support roles or even finance and accounting specialists.

Karen Sharpin, Acorn’s Director of Operations in the South West, said: “We are extremely pleased to have been selected by South West Water and Source for Business to provide them with temporary staff.  Acorn’s professionalism and ability to manage high profile contracts attests to the trust they have placed in our company.  We are looking forward to working with South West Water and Source.”

The recruitment specialist, formerly Concept Staffing, has recently rebranded under parent group, Acorn. The Group has experienced rapid growth and expansion since its inception in 1992.  It currently has 38 branches across the West Country, Wales, the North West of England, London and the South East, placing up to 5,000 people into around 850 different client companies every week and securing 1,700 permanent placements each year.

The last 12 months have been a landmark year for the business as it celebrates 20 years as one of the leading recruitment and training agencies in the UK.  Acorn is marking the anniversary by raising &pound20,000 for 20 different charities across England and Wales.  Acorn has also launched its new Global Division, which has seen the company open offices in Australia and Singapore.
