Apprentice stars share their advice with recruiters of the future

Students had the opportunity to grill two BBC Apprentice stars at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) yesterday evening at an event organised by The National Association of College and University Entrepreneurs (NACUE) and the Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP).

Lee McQueen (winner of The Apprentice 2008) and Ricky Martin (winner of The Apprentice 2012), shared their stories as entrepreneurs in the recruitment industry.

Since appearing on the hit BBC show, both have started successful companies and shared their experiences to help students navigate the challenges they are likely to face in the future.

Managing director of Hyper Recruitment Solutions, Ricky Martin, said: “The event offered a great opportunity to talk about how I have progressed my career and hopefully inspire a younger generation to follow their dream of moving into business. If our feedback and thoughts inspire even a handful of young people to take the first all important steps on their chosen career path and make the right decisions then it will have been a successful evening.”

Director of Raw Talent Academy Lee McQueen said: “It was great to talk to so many enthusiastic young people who were interesting in recruitment and starting their own business. The audience had really thought about their questions and I hope that by sharing my story and advice I will have helped steer them in the right direction.”
