Association of Labour Providers appoints new Chair

The Association of Labour Providers (ALP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Roberts as its non-executive Chair.

Kevin joins the ALP following a distinguished career within the food and agricultural sectors, most recently as Director General of the National Farmers Union.  Previously Kevin has held the Chief Executive role at the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board and Director General of the Meat and Livestock Commission.  He has also held the roles of non-executive Chair of EFSIS and non-executive Director of Assured Food Standards.

David Camp, Director of the Association of Labour Providers says, “We are delighted to welcome Kevin as our new Chair, his reputation and achievements within the UK food industry speak for themselves.  Labour Providers play a vital role in the UK economy by reliably and cost effectively supplying workers to pick, produce and pack our food.  I am confident that Kevin will drive forward standards to ensure that the provision of agency and seasonal labour to the UK food and agricultural sectors is recognised as a model of good practice nationally and internationally.”

Kevin Roberts said “I have never under-estimated the importance of a flexible, hard-working and reliable workforce to the UK food and agricultural industries.  The labour provider industry has made great strides forward in recent years in terms of the professionalism of service and its role is now essential to UK food security.  The Association of Labour Providers has grown from a standing start to become a widely respected trade association within the food industry.  I am looking forward to my role as Chair and to working with all industry stakeholders to continue the good work of the ALP.”
