Major Players newly independent from Randstad

Major Players, the UK’s biggest recruiter for the creative industry and marketing world, has been bought back by its founder and outside investors from UK recruiter Randstad.

Founder Jack Gratton is joined in partnership by the company’s new Group MD Helen Stokes, founder and former Group CEO of Morgan Hunt.

Together they plan to develop the famous Major Players brand, which has been the biggest player in the creative recruitment market for decades. There have been no job losses and the agency is set to receive investment in management and infrastructure.

MD Helen Stokes spent a decade building Morgan Hunt into one of the most well-known and respected recruitment brands in the UK.

Helen says, “I am delighted to invest in this business with Jack, having known and admired the brand for some time. After a break from my last business and a year at London Business School I was looking at new opportunities and Major Players presents a rare chance to develop and grow an already strong and innovative company.

“We are all extremely excited about the possibilities for the future.”

Jack Gratton will now be CEO of the Major Players group, “This buy back from Randstad is entirely amicable and simply makes sense for the business as a whole,” he says. “Major Players has always remained a separate entity with a unique personality, and this move allows us to re-focus entirely on our market.

“Our strength remains a combination of our size, our boutique identity and an unrivalled knowledge of the creative industry.”

Major Players was bought by Vedior in 2007 and operated as a satellite subsidiary until the Randstad Group acquisition of the Vedior portfolio of recruitment firms in 2008.
