Recruitment firm gap drives growth with first acquisition of 2013

Recruitment firm gap personnel has acquired a South West-based specialist driving agency, and is aiming to complete several more buy-outs this year.

The strategic acquisition of Bristol Drivers Solutions (BDS) comes as gap – one of the UK’s 10 largest industrial labour providers – looks to smash the &pound100m turnover barrier by 2015.

Under the terms of the deal, BDS – which recorded revenues of &pound1.5m last year – will become part of gap’s specialist driving division, Driving Force.

The newly-merged entity will be known as BDS Driving Force. BDS directors Justine Buxton and Mandy Parker will remain on board for the foreseeable future.

North Wales-based Gamlins Solicitors advised gap on the deal, while financial due diligence was conducted internally.

“The company has an excellent client base and a solid track record of supplying reliable LGV drivers to the transport industry.

“This exciting acquisition bolsters Driving Force’s presence in the South West, and underlines our determination as a group to grow despite the challenging economic conditions.

“We have a strong pipeline of other potential targets, and hope to complete at least one other acquisition during 2013.” 

gap personnel, which has its national head office in Wrexham, North Wales, was founded in 1997 and is still privately owned.

Today the company offers nationwide coverage across seven regions through high street branches, specialist divisions and an on-site network. Group turnover for 2012 was a record &pound72m.

Driving Force, a division of gap, supplies drivers to more than 100 clients a day from sites in Bristol, Gloucester, Exeter, Hatfield, Ellesmere Port, Altrincham, Wakefield, Northampton and Stoke-on-Trent.
